Courses available

The classical art dance school is located in Álfabakka and Grensásvegi. The school is divided into pre-school, primary and secondary school levels. KLS emphasizes the technique and training of students, creativity, as well as introducing them to the history of dance and new developments in the field of dance. Positive motivation and development of students is a key part of the school's work.

Preschool

PRESCHOOL IS FOR STUDENTS 3 YEARS TO 8 YEARS AND IS PREPARATION FOR PRIMARY LEVEL.

The preschool is open to everyone and the age is based on the year of birth. The goal is to develop and stimulate motor intelligence, body awareness and social development.

The main emphasis is to introducing classical ballet to students and laying the foundation for further dance studies.
 

The classes take place in the school's studio in Mjódd, Álfabakka 14a, 3rd floor.

Primary level

THE PRIMARY LEVEL, FOLLOWS AFTER THE PRESCHOOL LEVEL, IS FOR STUDENTS 8 YEARS TO 15 YEARS AND IS PREPARATION FOR JUNIOR COLLEGE PROGRAM.

The emphasis is on professional, maturing and constructive teaching where each student gets the opportunity to develop and flourish.

Teaching is based on the National Curriculum Guide. The primary level consists of classical ballet, modern dance, contemporary dance, improv, point work and historical dance repertoires, in addition students participate in various exhibitions and are introduced to new trends and developments in the dance scene.

Junior College Program

THE JUNIOR COLLEGE PROGRAM IS DIVIDED INTO; CLASSIC BALLET PROGRAM AND MODERN AND CONTEMPORARY PROGRAM. THE STUDY IS A GOOD PREPARATION FOR THOSE WHO ARE GOING TO STUDY DANCE  AT A UNIVERSITY LEVEL AND HAVE THE AMBITION TO WORK IN THE DANCE INDUSTRY, BUT THE STUDY CAN ALSO BE GREAT PREPARATION FOR VARIOUS PROFESSIONS.

Students who are admitted to the graduate program must have completed primary school education and have studied dance in some form or have unequivocal dance skills and a keen interest in the opinion of the school's management and teachers. To graduate students have to have achieved satisfactory results and physical training according to he school's curriculum, which is based on the main curriculum in dance-art, which includes dance techniques in ballet, modern dance, contemporary dance, ballet history, choreography and more.

The advanced program is intended for students aged 16-25, however, there are exceptions for both older and younger students to pursue this study, for more details please contact the office or send an e-mail to info@ballet.is.
